Rice University climate change initiative with Shell seeks to fundamentally change how the world uses hydrocarbons. Carbon Hub is a major research initiative. Creation of zero-emissions in which oil and natural gas provide clean energy and advanced materials represent a significant shift from the oil industry that burns carbon for fuel. Instead of burning hydrocarbons, the research has moved to discovering how to split them into hydrogen energy and carbon materials.
