27 percent of females participate in youth sports compared to 43 percent of males. The amount of female participation in youth sports has skyrocketed since the passage of Title IX. At the time of the passage of the law, only 4% of girls participated in the top 10 youth sports programs.

Regarding college female participation in sports, 15,000 women participated in college athletics before Title IX. This includes counting recreational college sports to the elite level. Five decades later, more than 200,000 women play sports across all divisions of the NCAA.
